Computational investigation of rarefied gas flows in various configurations based on linearized kinetic model equations

Abstract
A brief review of some recent developments in multidimensional rarefied gas dynamics is presented. Several flow configurations for single gases and binary mixtures including flows in ducts of various cross sections, cavities and grooved channels are described and solved. Some computational issues related to the efficient numerical solution of the kinetic equations are discussed. The applicability of these non-equilibrium flows in the engineering fields of microfluidics and vacuum technology is demonstrated.
