Francesco Regazzoni has been awarded a Starting Grant from FIS (the Italian Science Fund) for his proposal titled "SYNERGIZE: Synergizing Numerical Methods and Machine Learning for a new generation of computational models." The project SYNERGIZE has been awarded over €1.2 million in funding and will span three years, starting in spring 2025. From March 10th to June 6th 2025, the Department of Mathematics will host the Intensive Period Quantum Mathematics @ Polimi. The Intensive Period will have a broad focus on the mathematical methods for few- and many-body quantum systems, topological phases of matter, spectral and operator theory. On Tuesday, December 3rd, at 5:00 PM, the inauguration of the exhibition “Women of Mathematics from Around the World” took place. The event, reserved for first-year students of the Mathematical Engineering degree program, was held in the glass hall of Building 13 at the Politecnico di Milano and was organized by the Department of Mathematics in collaboration with the Equal Opportunities Service. Today, November 19th, the Coordinator, Prof. Michele Correggi, welcomed the new students of the 40th cycle of the PhD program in "Mathematical Models and Methods for Engineering." Sixteen students, already enrolled or about to enroll in the program, attended the event, including 13 Italian students and 3 international students (from China, France, and Germany). We wish the new PhD students a successful and fulfilling journey.

We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the Mathematics for Planet Earth workshop, held on 11–12 November at the Politecnico di Milano. With around 80 participants and 15 research posters, the event highlighted the transformative role of mathematics in understanding and addressing the challenges confronting our planet. With around 150 participants and 50 research posters, the event highlighted the transformative role of mathematics in healthcare and life sciences.
